Evaluation
Overall this unit, was very challenging and interesting, but not in a good way. I have always been the type of person who would just let the life take me to wherever it was going next and decided that life was not worth planning ahead. It is much more interesting if I were to be surprised by every little thing. I have never thought about what I wanted to be when I grew up and it wasn’t in my interest to plan it either. I know some people who are already embracing their future right now by deciding on many different subjects and trying out different community service hours. I usually do not have an answer when someone asks my about my future so this project forced me to get off my butt and do some research and give my future some decent thought. I am good at math but I did not want to be stuck with it for the rest of my life, so I did not know where to start. So I thought, just for this project, I’ll be a therapist. I chose my profession out of panic (for I was running out of time). My career plan didn’t really look like a major decision of my life. There was nothing wrong with it, but the information I provided were very basic. My performance for Investigation was very good, besides the career choosing part. I did all the required researches and I tried as hard as I could to find something which interested me but there weren’t enough jobs in the world. My video consisted of a lot of places and it reflected my different areas of expertise such as how I was on the soccer team, how my painting was in the book, how I am trying to get some singers from our school to sing “We are the world” for our school community.
Since now, I know what it feels like to choose a goal and this unit somehow gives me a warning how difficult life would be out side of school. Once I’m finished with school, it’s over and I’m on my own. It scares me in a way. The career plan gives us a head start of how it would be when we get old. The video is a chance for us to make the best video we can when we are actually applying for college. This video has given me a lot of new ideas and how differently I would do them for next time.
